Our Qi Body Gua Sha board is specifically designed for cellulite reduction.
The Qi Body Gua Sha board is a larger version of our Qi Facial Gua Sha board and it is used in a similar way. This is a bigger board for the larger thigh, buttocks, and hip area, but can be used anywhere on the body where there is cellulite or stagnation. The Qi Body Gua Sha board is a great adjunct therapy to go with our Body Brush and Qi Body cup, they are sold together as a kit if you want to embrace them together, which we recommend.
Body Gua Sha can be a wonderful way to move stagnation, support healthy circulation, and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Gua Sha has been used in TCM for thousands of years and has a wonderful history of treating sore muscles, moving fluids and moving stagnation. It is also a great way to relax and support the fascia. Fascia can adhere to the muscle and cause pain but it can also adhere to the skin and cause visible dimples, aka: cellulite. Thus the Qi Body Gua Sha board can help to relax and improve the appearance of cellulite.
Some quick tips:
Body Gua Sha for cellulite reduction should NEVER leave any marks on the skin, so if you see them during or after a treatment, you are using too much pressure with the board so lighten up.
When doing body Gua Sha, make sure to apply a good body oil on the area before starting to ensure the board slides easily and properly on the skin. For a great overall treatment we recommend starting with dry brushing before jumping into a hot shower and then after the shower, apply your favorite body oil and start your Body Gua Sha session. A wonderful option is to alternate Body Gua Sha and Body Cupping on the problem areas, so you get a few treatments of each per week.
WHY USE BIAN STONE INSTEAD OF ANOTHER MATERIAL FOR THE QI GUA SHA BOARDS?
Having worked with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 20 years, it was a simple choice. Bian Stones have a unique history in TCM and are an utterly unique stone in and of themselves.
Bian Stones are considered to be a precursor to acupuncture, where they were utilized by heating the pointed end of the stone and then used by pressing the stone on different points on the body to reduce pain, which eventually evolved into acupuncture. Bian Stone therapy is the technique referring to the use of stone-based equipment to perform massage and/or point activation, so stone medicine at its best!
The Bian stone itself has unique properties for a stone. This specific stone allows heat to be stored in the stone, which can create a calming and soothing effect on the skin, fascia and muscles. Bian stone contains over 40 different minerals and is said to emit far infrared rays and negative ions, which increase the healing benefits of this remarkable stone. From a “stone medicine” standpoint, it is said to balance the energy of the body.
We love working with the Bian Stones for our Qi Body Gua Sha boards as we are continuing a long tradition in stone medicine, plus it helps to achieve amazing results of course.
